Laser-Based Liposuction Procedures

Laser liposuction, also called “Smart Lipo,” refers procedures that use laser energy to melt fat before it is removed from the body. The various laser-based liposuction procedures, like traditional liposuction, remove the unwanted fat from the body by suction, using a small tube (cannula).  The principal difference between laser and traditional liposuction surgeries is that laser lipo pre-treats body fat, making it easier to remove. A laser at the tip of the cannula heats and liquefies the fat before aspiration.

Laser Hemorrhoidectomy

Hemorrhoids are sac-like tissues in the rectal opening that contain lymph and blood vessels, formed by the clotting of blood in enlarged blood vessels in the rectal area.

Most cases of hemorrhoids are successfully treated with dietary changes, over-the-counter remedies or doctors’ prescriptions. Between 10 to 20 percent of hemorrhoid cases, however, have severe symptoms that that do not respond to conservative treatment.

Surgical treatment is typically reserved for patients with stage 3 (bleeding and an exposed prolapse) and stage 4 (bleeding and strangulated prolapse) hemorrhoids.  Prolapsed hemorrhoids refer to internal hemorrhoids (hemorrhoids that occur inside the rectum) that become so distended that they extrude outside the anus. When the blood supply is cut off, a prolapsed hemorrhoid becomes strangulated. Acute hemorrhoid bleeding can in some cases result in anemia.

Laser Surgery For Varicose And Spider Veins

Varicose veins are distended, incompetent veins that can no longer fulfil their role of re-circulating blood back to the heart.  The condition commonly affects veins in the legs when the one-way valves they contain to permit blood to go upward back to the heart begin to leak. The blood then remains in the veins, which become varicose. Besides issues of appearances, this condition very often causes medical problems that range from the minor (aching, heaviness, rashes …) to the severe (circulatory problems due to venous insufficiency skin ulcers, bleeding and phlebitis, or blood clots).

Lasik Surgery Enhancements

Unfortunately, not all LASIK patients come away with 20/20 vision following their initial procedure. While most people achieve satisfactory results from their LASIK surgery, some people require additional treatment. Their eyesight may be better, but not quite perfect, prompting them to contact their doctor to discuss having another LASIK treatment. These follow-up surgeries are referred to as enhancements.

An enhancement procedure is not necessary for the majority of patients who have LASIK surgery. The worse your vision is prior to LASIK, the more likely you are to need re-treatment. Both of your eyes may require additional correction or you can have an enhancement on just one.
